William Ridley

William Ridley is our independent wine consultant. As well as his regular column in our monthly newsletter, William is also able to provide individual wine advice. William Ridley has been an independent Wine Consultant, since his retirement from full time employment in the Wine Industry in 2000.  He is currently the Secretary of the Yorkshire & North East Wine & Spirit Association.

William has been involved in the Wine Trade for over 40 years and was responsible for wine sourcing for hotels, pubs, restaurants and off licences.  At one time his annual 'shopping basket' was over 8 million bottles of wine.  He has travelled extensively to wine producing regions of the world including, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Chile,
Argentina, California, as well as all the wine regions in Europe including Hungary.

He was a former director of the Wine Development Board and was made a member of  the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin in 1988 in the illustrious company of Robert Parker the internationally famous wine expert.

William also used to write a wine column in the Newcastle Upon Tyne Evening Chronicle. He keeps in close contact with the Trade and because of his extensive knowledge and experience is able to search out the real bargains on offer in all retail and wholesale sectors.
